About my origins

My origins – I mean, in this lifetime – are not easily described:

Both my parents were from the far-away French island Martinique in the Caribbeans, but I was born  in Algiers (in then French Algeria) during the short while they stayed there.

It is Black Africa, West Africa that I grew up in, with six months in France in between each two-year stay in Africa.

So although I look like a regular French person and speak French as my mother-tongue, my background through my parents and our ancestors is the creole culture from Martinique (a mixture of all possible colors), plus the extra influence of the black African culture I grew up in.

In my blood I have also some Indian blood from that very India I find myself living in since forty years because of Auroville being built there.

In all those very different aspects of my present make-up I have found since childhood and again later in my life the echo of some previous lifetime bearing still special significance in this lifetime, so it is not just a French person writing the blog, it is a human being conscious of embodying much more cultural and genetic influences than her outer appearance would tell.
